Mosaic—Our Life As Art

Mosaic—Our Life As Art

By Cindy Harley

Hello fellow seekers,

Here I am writing this during the Mercury Retrograde period (December 29, 2022 – January 18, 2023). Hopefully, all things are going smoothly. Often, people think that a Mercury Retrograde is where things fall apart (electronics, agreements, deals, communication in general). And what do we do when things fall apart? We panic. But what if when things fall apart we create a mosaic of the broken pieces?

Mosaics: Past and Present

Have you ever purchased a mosaic piece? I watched a show a while ago where an artist creates mosaic patterns on furniture from broken pottery. The word mosaic has been coming up for me to notice for the past week or so. I put on my research hat and went looking through the halls of Google.

According to the Modern Met site, mosaics have been a popular art form in several cultures around the world. The earliest known mosaics were found in a Mesopotamian temple dating back to the 3rd millennium B.C. Wow, and I usually think of mosaics as a preschool art project with paper and little bits of paper—like a paper butterfly or fish from this mom’s website.

Create A Stronger Self Through The Art Of Spiritual Mosaic

Why did the word mosaic come into my awareness? Birchlight Energy focuses on “a spiritually grounded, heart-centered awakening.” We are bringing all the parts of us back to center so we can expand our heart’s collective and live the life we’ve always dreamed.” And as I contemplated a mosaic, the vision I had was bringing back the scattered broken parts of ourselves and integrating them into a new and stronger Being.

In Shamanic Healing, “The shaman may serve by removing energies that are inappropriately present, or by returning energies that have been lost. This includes soul recovery to accomplish healing via the return of lost parts of the soul.” (source: University of Minnesota, Taking Charge of Your Health and Wellbeing)

I worked with a Shamanic student and they did a Soul Retrieval session with me. Afterwards, I felt more integrated and complete. Often energy workers (not necessarily Shamans) will do a journey where you are looking for missing parts or childhood parts that might be affecting you unconsciously in your decision making or daily life and return the essence back to you.

An Akashic record practitioner may also be able to lead you on a journey to find those lost parts and reintegrate them or acknowledge and release them into your consciousness.

Your Life As Art

But let’s bring it back around to our life being a mosaic. If you were to look at your life in retrospect, you would see that you have probably lived many different lives all in this lifetime. Your interests may have changed; you may have different friends. You may have rebuilt your life multiple times. Sometimes at the beginning of a new year, we are setting intentions, and those intentions are really our mind and body rebuilding our current reality or perspective.

What we must remember is that we are a mosaic of all our past experiences, thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. We can break the old patterns of thoughts, rebuild, and reintegrate in a new way—like building a mosaic of all our different perspectives.

Healing Tools To Create Your Mosaic Self

Here are some healing tools that may help you:

Number 1: Meditation

Meditation brings you in alignment with your essence. It helps you to integrate all your parts and quiets the parts that are dissenting or causing fear. Meditation doesn’t need to be sitting still for an hour. It can be taking a walk or doing Tai Chi or Yoga. Or even taking five minutes to focus on conscious breathing and listening to a meditation you found on YouTube like this one:

It can be experiencing a guided meditation like Birchlight Energy’s LIVE Guided Healing Meditations.

Remember, you are finding out what works for you to quiet the monkey mind and recognize the thoughts that are swirling and then release them. Bring your energy back to center.

Number 2: Journaling—Morning Pages

Journaling is a way to do a mind dump. In her book The Artist’s Way, Julia Cameron recommends daily journaling. Every morning, you sit down and write a three-page journal entry. These pages are for your eyes only and even you shouldn’t judge them. It’s stream of consciousness writing: a way to clear your mind and then, from what you wrote, you may find the energy on which you should focus.

Number 3: Crystals

You know I love crystals. They are pretty and shiny. Crystals and rocks share their vibration with us. Depending on what you want to focus on, you may choose a crystal to carry with you as your ally. For example, lately I have been clearing my energy with Selenite. According to The Book of Stones, Robert Simmons indicates that Selenite can align your chakras and may be used in energetic clearing. In other words, Selenite can help you to consciously sluff off old stagnant energy so you have room for the new energy.

Number 4: Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

EFT is a way to bring your nervous system back to neutral. Instead of being in the Fight, Flight, Freeze, or Fawn responses that we often find ourselves in when we are triggered, we can work with EFT to release those emotional memories and beliefs that are unconsciously running our perspective. Again, this helps us to come back to our own essence—our center.

These are just four of the tools that I use, and you may choose to use, to help me ground and center myself. When we are centered within our body and the present moment, we can make decisions that help us to stay awake and aware, and widen our perspective.

Why Mosaics Are Important Symbols

So why am I so drawn to mosaics? I believe we can use all that we have experienced in this life to create a life that brings us joy and contentment. We can create a mosaic of beauty out of all our parts and broken pieces. We can break free of the past as we integrate the pieces into our new self and learn to fly. Like the Kelly Clarkson song “Breakaway” and the scene from The Princess Diaries 2 where Princess Mia is explaining to the orphans how to be a princess.

Breakaway:
I’ll spread my wings and I’ll learn how to fly
I’ll do what it takes ‘til I touch the sky
And I’ll make a wish, take a chance, make a change
And breakaway.

“To be a princess, you have to believe that you are a princess. You’ve got to walk the way you think a princess would walk. So, you gotta think tall, you gotta smile and wave, and just have fun.” —Princess Mia

Remember, we are building ourselves every day, we can take the broken pieces and build a new mosaic of our life. We can be grateful for all our parts. We can be grateful for being able to experience and embody the change.

So imagine what you want to embody and walk how you would walk in that energy, think tall and smile and just have fun. Breakaway and create your life as a beautiful piece of art—art that you love and appreciate. You are worth it. We are worth it.

Blessings,
