13 Sep You Are Radiant—Shine Your Light
By Cindy Harley
Hello Fellow Wanderers,
“Radiant,” according to Charlotte’s Web, means “Bright with hope that he won’t be slaughtered.” Now we are probably not afraid we may be slaughtered, but we do need to remember there is hope.
Now, you may be wondering why I am bringing a children’s book into a blog post for grounded awakening. You can read books in many different ways. It is your awareness, perception, and at what level you are actually perceiving. Many of us read Charlotte’s Web in elementary school as an assignment. There wasn’t anything really earth-shattering or mind-blowing about the story—it’s about a pig and a spider. It may have brought a smile to our faces.
But as we grow older, we can see different aspects of the story. We can see our values and those of the author. I see friendship and trust. I see it as a story of ourselves. We often need a voice outside of ourselves to validate or tell us we are “terrific,” “radiant,” or “some pig” (somebody).
Our Radiant Cores: Our Gift To The World
It is so easy to listen only to the voices outside. Our friends, families, acquaintances, and even frenemies (nowadays, the news, social media, TikTok). But we have within us a radiant core that is bright with hope.
A song that I remember learning in Sunday school was “This Little Light of Mine,” which is a popular gospel song. I love this version by Odetta.
We can let our light shine. We can be radiant. Each and every one of us has a light within us. We may try to hide it or hide from it because it scares us. But the light is there.
Our light is our gift to the world.
But often we forget we are all sparks of the divine and have a light to shine. We get bogged down in the day to day chores and business of making a living.
Pandora’s Box And Finding Hope
Feeling bogged down, fearful, or even sadness is not a new thing. Consider the Greek myth of Pandora’s Box. According to this source, Pandora was created by the gods in response to Prometheus stealing fire and giving it to humankind. Zeus was angry and wanted to punish people. The gifts in the box were beautifully evil, according to the Greek poet Hesiod.
Pandora was created to be deceitful, stubborn, and curious. She was given a box, called “pithos” in Greek, and was told that it contained gifts from the gods, but she was never to open the box. Of course, Pandora was curious. Her curiosity got the best of her, and she opened the box. Illness and hardships escaped. Pandora was scared and tried to close the box. At the very bottom of the box was Hope. In some versions of the story, Hope remained in the box, and in other versions, Hope was the last to leave the box.
The myth of Pandora is one way to explain the evils of the world. I like the version where, in the end, Hope also escapes.
Hope is defined by Merriam-Webster as “desire accompanied by expectation of or belief in fulfillment.” The Archaic definition is “trust and reliance.”
I have a belief that things will work out. I believe that there is a higher purpose and unseen forces helping me. What are your expectations? Are you a glass half full or glass half empty person? Either is fine!
Practice Gratitude And Joy
What can we do when we feel bogged down or overwhelmed? One exercise we should practice is Gratitude and Joy.
What makes you smile? What lights you up? Everyone will be different, and that is OK. We do not have to judge—we can accept and shine our light.
In energy medicine, there are radiant circuits within us. According to author and energy healer Donna Eden, working with the radiant circuits helps you to activate your joy. Donna Eden has produced a couple of different Joy Challenges on YouTube. Check out the video of day two of a 28-day Joy Challenge that will help you work with your own Radiant Circuit.
Having a daily practice really helps you to center and align. The Joy Challenge videos might be one way to incorporate centering your body’s systems with movement and intent.
Another way might be if you would like to center and ground and find your joy with a short guided meditation. Here is our new Featured Healer, Alexandra Kerlin’s meditation:
Remember, Energy Medicine is not a replacement for medical treatment. (Read Birchlight Energy’s disclaimer.)
